At AAP (Animal Advocacy and Protection) we give shape to an ideal in a professional manner: to improve the welfare of abused or neglected exotic mammals from all over Europe. We advocate for better laws and are an internationally renowned expert. Our commitment demonstrably makes the difference. AAP operates two rescue and rehabilitation facilities, one in the Netherlands (Stichting AAP Almere) and one in Spain (AAP Primadomus). We shelter animals rescued from illegal trade, circuses, animal-testing laboratories or private owners. For many animals, we find suitable homes in reserves, zoos, and animal parks. In Almere we have 96 employees and more than 200 volunteers. We work in a spacious and modern location, in the middle of the green heart of Almere. Our office and facility center are located on the same grounds as our rescued animals. Nowhere else can you see the result of your work so directly! In Spain we have 25 employees and 16 volunteers. Functieomschrijving Senior HR Advisor

AAP is looking for an allround and experienced (senior) HR advisor to strengthen our Human Resources team. Are you versatile, hands-on and eager to contribute to the ever changing work context in AAP as a professionalizing non-profit organization? AAP is active in several EU member states and is expanding as an international European organization. The HR team is developing into an international team as well. At the same time we are future-proofing our processes, focusing on vitality and on building a culture based on our leading principles vigour, dedication and accessibility. More than enough interesting challenges for an experienced HR advisor who is energized by a complete and diverse role in a small, supportive and people-oriented team.

HR team
The HR team is changing. Your role will have many hands-on elements but your organizational sensitivity will help in building resilient processes. We are responsible for updating, developing and implementing HR policies and procedures for the entire organization and managing the HR processes from inflow to outflow. The team also plays a role in the management development and organizational change processes. We are moving away from an administrative and operational unit to playing a more facilitating and supportive role as business partner.

As HR advisor you have an advisory and facilitating role towards employees and managers. The team in the Netherlands (Almere) currently consists of 1 senior HR advisor, 1 junior HR advisor, 1 payroll/HR administration officer, 1 volunteer coordinator/ESC and is supported by 2 volunteers. In Spain (Villena) the team consists of 2 paid parttime employees: 1 payroll/ HR administration officer and 1 volunteer coordinator. You’ll work closely with the HR team manager who supervises the team in both Almere and Spain and is responsible for AAP-wide HR policy development.

What are you going to do?

  • Contributing to the development of the HR policies in the broadest sense (covering inflow, development and HR cycle, outflow and ARBO/illness cases, functioning issues).
  • You follow internal and external relevant evolutions in the HR domain and share opportunities and information to update the HR policies and processes with your managerUpon request you make proposals to improve policies and processes.
  • You lead or contribute to HR projects within the framework of the (multi-) yearplan.
  • Executing the HR procedures and guiding management (and employees) in HR matters in their full employee journey from the moment of contracting and onboarding until exit.
  • ARBO & Health, recruitment, contacting and onboarding, training & education and advice regarding to the terms of employment are in your range.
  • You monitor the application of procedures, improve and develop tools and forms.
  • Facilitating administrative processes and contributing to improving work processes and the HR information management.
  • AAP works with a diversity of iT tools: Cobra (SDWorx, HROffice, Eletive, Viva Engage, Sharepoint and Microsoft Office)
  • Serving as first point of contact and/or as focal point for designated HR projects or tasks.
  • Main ongoing tasks are the recruitment processes, RIE and illness-related absence.
  • In the next years AAP has a strong focus on management development and vitality. Integrity is also on the agenda. The HR advisor will play an important role in this too.

Functievereisten Senior HR Advisor

What do you bring?
Your role and experience as advisor is demonstrated in your capacity to judge situations and anticipate organization specific ways of working. You can manage a diverse case load but you are a people person foremost and capable of analyzing situations and questions from different angles. In your work you are resilient to stress but also flexible. You are a good listener, persuasive, solution-oriented and you are a teamplayer that prefers to cooperate with others.

  • A completed HRM education at higher vocational level (e.g. HBO Human Resource management). Additional specific professional training is desired.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional HR experience in a similar role and organization.
  • An up-to-date knowledge of the Dutch labor context and relevant laws and regulations (e.g. Wet Poortwachter) and preferably of the Spanish labor laws.
  • You’re strong in multitasking, work methodically and have good digital skills in MS Office/365, Sharepoint and Teams. Prioritizing, planning and organizing are a talent.
  • Your communication skills (both written and oral) in both Dutch and English are excellent.
  • You are positive, eager to develop and show a healthy dose of humor.

What do we offer?

  • Your salary will be between gross 4150 and 4887 euro (based on 40 hours per week dependent on relevant work experience, with room for growth within the function.
  • In addition AAP offers 8% holiday allowance, a fair commuting allowance and a working from home allowance of 2,35 net per working day.
  • 24 vacation days per year on a full time basis.

  • A personal training budget of 1,5% of your gross income per year.
